Girl Crush: Kristen Wiig

This funny lady proves that girls can be hilarious and beautiful all at the same time. Kristen Wiig has become one of our Saturday Night Live favorites. Also, we almost died laughing watching Bridesmaids which Wiig co-wrote and starred in.

We love Wiig because she doesn't take herself seriously and will make a fool out of herself just to make us laugh. How could we not love her?

Your Relationship, Your Decisions

Actress Judy Greer, right, always plays the friend who gives the lead character unwanted relationship advice in films.
A week or two ago, one of my friends asked me if I thought it was inappropriate for her to be spending pretty much all her time at her boyfriend's house when she's got an apartment of her own. Honestly, I wouldn't do it for two reasons: I'm not paying hundreds of dollars a month for a place I barely go to and in a serious, long-term relationship I'd rather enjoy my independence now in case it ended in marriage. If I could be with someone forever, why does it have to start immediately?

But that's my opinion and it's obviously not how she feels, otherwise she'd be spending at least three nights a week at her own place. Plus, she'd probably get married tomorrow if she could and I can't even imagine myself walking down an aisle in the next four years (maybe more).

Did I mention that I'm happily single right now? So why I'd be asked for relationship advice is a bit of a mystery to me.

Relationships can fail when you've got too many passengers aboard the ship. When you're asking people about every argument and seeking advice for every new decision from outside sources. If you're soliciting advice for small things, what happens when you have bigger issues? Will you always have someone in your ear telling you what to do? If your boyfriend of ten years decides he hates kids and never wants them or the guy you've been dating for six months asks you to move in with him, what you do in those situations should be up to you.

Don't worry about what people will think. You don't want to live with regrets because you listened to someone else's advice instead of following your own gut. If your decision is a complete bust, at least it was your decision.

If you need to run it by someone, pick a friend who has no agenda. My friends usually come to me for advice because I really just assess the situation and lay our the pros/cons. I don't usually take a stance or say something's right or wrong because it's really not my business.

But if you're going to anyone about romantic concerns, it should really be your significant other. From what I can tell my friend's boyfriend loves having her around all the time, but how would she know? She asked me, not him.

Fashion Week Diaries: London Calling

As Milan is already beginning its third day of runway, I wanted to take the time to briefly recap London's Fall 2012 Fashion Week. The collections appeared mostly structured, darker in nature, with slight traces of menswear inspiration from designer like Jonathan Saunders and Paul Smith. Some implements of shag and disco went down the runway at Meadham Kirchoff and femine flare was the theme at my favorite show, Moschino Cheap & Chic.

2012 Oscar Predictions

With the Academy Awards just days away, here are our predictions on who will walk away with the golden statue.

Best Supporting Actress: Octavia Spencer in "The Help"

Octavia Spencer captured movie goer's hearts this summer in "The Help." She gave a well rounded performance from making us laugh to making us cry like babies. She already won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award which is pretty much a good indicator that she will be a winner come Sunday.

Best Supporting Actor: Christopher Plummer in "Beginners"

Christopher Plummer is best known for his role in the classic "The Sound of Music" and a legendary actor. However, he has never won an Oscar. Like Spencer, he swept at the Globes and the SAGs. Sunday night will most likely prove to Plummer that good things come to those who wait.

Best Actress: Viola Davis in "The Help"

Move over Meryl Streep, it looks like you are going to lose for the 13th time in a row. Viola Davis came alive in "The Help" and in a lot of ways made the movie such a smashing success. Davis is smart, kind and important!

Best Actor: George Clooney in "The Descendants"

Most are putting their money on Jean Dujardin in "The Artist," however, we are sensing a upset in this category. While Dujardin was amazing, George Clooney was equally amazing in "The Descendants."

Best Picture: "The Artist"

The silent film has been a critics darling all award season long. While some are saying "The Help" will win in a upset, "The Artist" will most likely go home with the movie industry's top honor.

Sara in the City: Getting Lost in Social Media

In the small city I work in, a video of two high school girls fighting each other went viral this week. While most were shocked about the violence, I was in shock about the fact this ended up on YouTube.

Now, don't get me wrong. The fact that these two young ladies used violence to solve their problems is horrible. However, why in the world would you ever put that online?

In the world of social media, I don't quite think my generation understands what the consequences are when you get too personal via the World Wide Web.

Before I go throwing stones at everyone else, it is time for me to look in the mirror. There have been plenty of times when I have shared too much with the world on my Facebook or Twitter.

The shocking thing is in real life I am incredibly private person. However, sharing what is going on in my life or in my head via a status update is just so easy. Maybe, that why I like it. I can finally get things off my chest.

However, I have learned it is sometimes better to leave things unsaid. It has been said before and I will say it again, what is on the Internet will stay on the Internet forever.

So, think before you post. You don't want to be embarrassed about something stupid you did in your twenties.

Feeling Nude

You’ll always catch me with a fresh, clean mani. Whether I’m rockin’ Essie Bachelorette Bash or OPI Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It, my nails always add that pop of color when it comes to my Friday-nights wardrobe -- almost always an LBD.

As of lately, however, I’ve been feeling a little nude. I’ve been wearing less black. I’ve ditched my red lipstick for a soft pink gloss. My makeup bag is collecting dust right where I left it a couple of days ago. And my bare nails have finally seen the light of day in almost two years.

As beauty director of Feather, you’d think that looking all dolled up would be a priority. I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s very important for me to always look my best, and normally that includes a nice manicure. However, it’s perfectly fine to kick back your heels every now and then and soak in a little thing called laziness.

These past few days, instead of looking slimming in an LBD, I’ve worked my curves. My lips haven’t been so intimidating to guys since I’ve put red lipstick on the backburner. My friends have gotten to see me as I really am when the makeup comes off before bed, and even though I look better with makeup on, it’s kind of refreshing to exude confidence without any on. I’ve also been able to clean my dishes without worrying about ruining my manicure.

Sometimes, taking a week off from your beauty regimen makes you feel a little less like a Kardashian and more like the twenty-something busy bee that you are. So, kick back your heels and embrace the nude...but with your clothes on!

Adele is looking glorious is this month's Vogue. The Grammy award-winning singer strays away from her traditional all-black attire by incorporating it with different shades.

The form fitting clothes and dramatic eye makeup bring out Adele's luscious curves and porcelain skin.

Actress Jane Levy plays Tessa Altman on the hit ABC show "Suburgatory." Altman is a rebellious city girl trapped in the stifling confines of the suburb life.

Levy is witty, charming and feisty. She is what makes the show a hit. Every week, we watch to see what crazy one liners she is spitting out next. We can't wait to watch her career grow.

Fashion Week Diaries: Rachel Zoe F/W 2012Rachel

With a high profile styling career and The Zoe Report already under her belt, Zoe shows us all how its done once again with her debut New York Fashion Week runway show. The Rachel Zoe Fall 2012 line was absolutely jaw dropping. A few traces of velveteen, a splinter of sparkles and super high heels glitz-ed the sleek surface of the runway. Extremely tailored and well fitted pieces adorned with shaggy fur coats seemed to mesmerize potential buyers. If you want to dress exactly like Rachel Zoe, this line should be in your closet.

'Oh, Yes!' or 'Oh, No!': Funnel Neck

Funnel necks were a big deal at Helmut Lang.
(image via MTV Style)
It's the last day of New York Fashion Week (insert our sad face here), so we're doing a post worthy of the awesomeand sometimes oddthings that models wear down the runway. Helmut Lang seemed to be particularly fond of the funnel neck look, showcasing it on several garments that went down the runway for their fall 2012 line.

This is one of those fashion trends that doesn't really have much middle ground, you probably either love it or hate it. Which side of the "debate" are you on?

Sara in the City: A Lying Heart

I've learned throughout the years I can be a very forgiving person. But thing I can't forgive is a liar.

We've all been to lied to from time to time. It happens. Some of us may have even told a little white lie ourselves. There is just something so hurtful when you find out you have been lied to.

Recently, I found out a dear friend lied to me about something important. It was hurtful and I don't know if I will ever be able to get over it, no matter how hard I try.

Now, had this friend just told me the truth, life would be so much easier. The truth is a hard pill to swallow, but it's better than finding out you were lied too.

It seems like a simple lesson we should all know by now but it appears not. Sometimes lying is the easier option, but that doesn't mean it is the right option.

If you respect someone enough to consider them a friend, respect them enough to tell them the truth, no matter how hard it is.

Fashion Week Diaries: J.Crew F/W 2012

Pairing it all back to pointed-toe pumps, J.Crew's fall 2012 collection brightened the fashion week scene in the Lincoln Center Studio with an interesting mix of prints and monochromatic colors. Their basic silhouettes show true with added glam in their oversized handbags and minimal use of jewelry. Balancing the collection with cozy cable sweaters, straight legged pants and tailored pencil skirts, J.Crew lives up to its full reputation of delivering slight sophistication with a twist.

Ask a Princess: Love Advice from Disney's Leading Ladies

Whether we admit it or not, the Disney Princesses have an effect on how we handle our romantic lives.  Watching their films was probably the first exposure to romance most of us twenty-somethings had. We sort of never let go of those ideals of true love we picked up on. We'll always want the fairy tale.

Mary Pavlou, 18-year-old blogger of Petite Tiaras and Simple Disney Things, knows a lot about the Disney Princesses. She even created a few awesome magazine covers (like the one pictured on the left) featuring the famed fairy tale heroines.

"They're great role models who aren't necessarily flawless and I think that's what makes them worthy," Pavlou says.

One day, she'll either be a graphic artist for Disney or work at their theme parks, but for now she's giving a little love advice. The Feather Magazine editors came up with some romance questions for the princesses and Pavlou humored us with answers based on how much she knows about the characters.

Tiana: You're a really independent, career-driven woman. How do you balance your lofty goals and your relationship with Naveen? —Brianti Downing, Editor-in-Chief/Life Director
Tiana always put work before fun her whole life by refusing to go out with friends and working 2 jobs every day. Naveen was the complete opposite because the things he wanted most were always given to him. However, when the two of them met, they realized that a little bit of fun and hard work was a good mix. Tiana and Naveen found that it was important to find a balance between the two. Tiana finally opened her restaurant and Naveen worked along side her mincing and playing his ukulele. She put aside her work every once in a while and just danced.

So, if you're someone who's constantly working, you have realize that a healthy balance of work and play is necessary in life. After all, Tiana said, "Daddy never got what he wanted...but he had what he NEEDED: love! He never gave that up, and neither will I!"

Cinderella: You had a gorgeous gown and danced the night away at a ball. How do you land a guy when you have 15 pounds of "love chub" and don't have your fairy godmother to do your makeup? —Jeni Bishop, Executive Editor/Health Director
Cinderella's gorgeous glittering dress definitely helped her stand out from the crowd at the ball, but she didn't just rely on her looks. Through all her hard work, Cinderella remained beautiful both inside and out. So, if you're running last minute to look good at the next big event, remember that a girl's best accessory is her confidence. You could be wearing a hideously ugly brown paper bag, but you could rock it with the right attitude. Have faith in yourself.

Ariel: You're a mermaid, but you fell for a human. How did you have the guts to go for someone as different from you as Prince Eric? Rebecca Astorga, Beauty Director

Ariel longed to be apart of the human world long before she met Eric. In fact, she scoured sunken ships for lost treasures and dreamed of walking around on her own two feet. However, being under the strict rule of her father, Ariel found no way to see her dreams become a reality. No matter what obstacles came in her way, in this case her fins, Ariel was determined.

Yes, Ariel had definitely had guts. Life is all about sacrifices. If you truly want something so badly, something that completely fascinates you to no end, then there's no stopping the things you can do. As Walt would say, "All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them."

Belle: Why did you end up picking Beast (Prince Adam) over Gaston? And how do you discuss shaving with your man? —Kirsten Acuna, Entertainment Director
While many of the typical girls in town preferred Gaston's dashing looks and brute strength, Belle wanted much more. She didn't want just a body, she wanted someone who wasn't self centered and completely oblivious to her own feelings. This is why Belle chose the Beast. He might have been cold and different at first, but Belle quickly warmed up to him once he controlled his temper and proved his worth. When he showed Belle that he truly had a heart, she knew she was in love with him.

As far as shaving goes, Belle probably no longer worries about this since he's human again. But if a scruffy man is the issue, Belle would kindly suggest that he shave. Maybe she'd even help just to have fun.

Megara: What is your advice for girls with commitment issues? —Sara Brown, Blog Editor
Megara was hurt by another man before she met Herc;  in fact she even sold her soul to help her ex. After he betrayed her, Megara found it was hard to trust another man. But Hercules won his way to Megara's heart by showing just how much he cared for her. And in return, Meg slowly started to fall for "Wonder Boy". Let your guy show that he really cares and give him the chance that he deserves.

Jasmine: How did you handle the fact that everyone was judging Aladdin, when you knew he was different from what everyone thought?
—Shelly White, Social Media Director Jasmine wanted Aladdin because he proved that he was unlike any other man that had approached her. All the other suitors wanted Jasmine for her title, but Aladdin proved to Jasmine that he actually cared for her.  Sometimes it is best to ignore snide comments. If you know deep in your heart his true intentions then do not let other people's opinions sway your own.

Fashion Week Diaries: Erin Fetherston F/W 2012 RTW

Edgy but still sweet explains Erin Fetherston's Fall 2012 RTW collection. Daintily sitting upon golden tree trunks in the Studio of Lincoln Center were lanky models dressed in Fetherston's latest. Touches of sparkly sequins and soft flowing fabric in light colors are shown through out the pieces. While black is still the base color, a  lemony yellow adds pop and gold accents trickle through the collection as a whole.

A Single Girl's Valentine's Day: Date Yourself

Ain't nothin' wrong with that!
(image via We Heart It)
So, your single on Valentine's Day?

Well, go cry now because your tears will not be welcome tomorrow. As soon as the sun rises on Feb. 14 single ladies (myself included) will not give in to the temptation of spending the day in your pajamas watching Say Anything and eating cookie dough ice cream. Despite how you may have spent previous single nights on V-Day, Ben & Jerry are not acceptable dates.

I'm totally in support of having a girls' night out with your best friends. But when they're all booed up and your alone, don't sit around wallowing in your singleness.

You may be single, but you are in a relationshipwith yourself. As cliché as it may sound, it's one of the most important relationships you'll ever have. In your twenties, it should be the most important relationship because this is the best time to figure out who you really are.

Since you're totally, insanely and amazingly awesome, take yourself out on a date. Everyone will be jealous that you get to go out with YOU. Take yourself to a movie (Don't go see The Vow, unless you can handle being alone at the ultimate date movie.) or out to dinner. Maybe just go out and get an ice cream cone (It's better than eating an entire pint on your couch.) or take a stroll.

Just make sure you're not sitting in the house mourning the death of your love life because it's not dead. It really never dies. Your romantic life is just on hiatus, but it will be back soon and you'll have a Valentine. For now, enjoy that fact that you didn't have to come up with some elaborate gift or spend hours worrying about making the night perfect.

You get to have a perfectly imperfect night doing whatever makes you happy.

First Photos: Blue Ivy Carter

Hello, Blue Ivy Carter!

As the person who totally freaked out on the @feather_mag Twitter when Beyoncé revealed her baby bump at the MTV Video Music Awards, I was really excited to see the first photos of Blue Ivy.

The couple released them on a Tumblr created especially for their new bundle of joy. A message on the page reads: "We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives." It's signed, "The Carters."

Aside from being insanely adorable, this baby's got beautiful hair and probably already has Jay-Z wrapped around her tiny fingers. I can't wait until he finds a way to have swagger while pushing a stroller with a diaper bag slung across his shoulder. If anyone can do it, it's Jay-Z.

Can we also talk about the fact that not only did Queen B look insanely flawless in her first post-baby appearance earlier this week but she was also perfection so soon after giving birth?
